Michael Cordes was born in Johannesburg, educated at St Andrews College in Grahamstown and completed a Diploma in Forestry & Sawmilling at the University of Kentucky, USA.
He has been involved in agriculture for almost 40 years; amassing practical experience of 15 years in farming subtropical fruit and vegetables. He has also worked in all the major sectors of the fresh produce trade such as Markets, Marketing, Exports, Retail, Wholesale and Distribution.
In addition to his remarkable experience, he has also been a free-lance journalist for over 10 years and is the only journalist in South Africa who specialises in the fresh produce sector. He is very involved in the training of Market Agents, Market Personnel, Marketers and Emerging Farmers in South Africa as well as other SADC countries.
To add to his already impressive resume, he also does consulting work on Agricultural Development and Marketing.
